Disney On A Budget: How to visit Disney World for cheap!

The words Disney World and cheap don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand. Anyone who has vacationed in Orlando knows how expensive a day at the parks can be. With that said, there are a number of ways that you can limit your expenses and visit Disney on a budget.

Stay off property –Disney hotels are known for their amazing accommodations and small attention to details. When staying at a Disney resort you expect nothing less than perfect, but the reality is your paying for that perfection. There are a number of off property hotels in the area that can fit your budget. Also keep in mind private vacation rental sites like VRBO and AirBnB. Keep International Drive in mind when doing your research. The famous strip is lined with hotels of varying quality and is centrally located to all of Orlando’s attractions. Do your homework and look into alternatives to the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian.

Eat Outside of the Parks – Once you step foot onto Disney property the prices for food skyrocket! The solution to this is simple…eat a big meal beforehand. You can find cheap dining outside of the “touristy areas”. Look for restaurants in Dr. Phillips or Williamsburg, which are both residential neighborhoods minutes from Disney. An even better idea is to find a private rental that features a full kitchen and cook your own meals. Also, don’t be afraid to pack snacks for the day. Pack some water along with a few of the kiddos favorite treats in a backpack to bring with you inside the parks.

Take advantage of Downtown Disney – Downtown Disney and the Disney Boardwalk have so much to offer and both areas are free to the public. Neither of the two have rides, but that doesn’t mean your kids wouldn’t love seeing the massive Lego structures, playing in the fountain, or walking through the World of Disney. You can visit the gift shops at T-Rex and Rainforest Café to see the elaborate decorations and not have to pay a dime to eat there.

Have a beach day – Cocoa Beach (I Dream Of Jeannie anyone?) is exactly one hour from Disney and has plenty of free parking and beach access. Pack up your vehicle and spend the day soaking up the sun and playing in the Atlantic Ocean. This can be a great way to relax from all the hustle-bustle of the parks.

Remember Orlando has much more to offer than just Disney World. With a little bit of homework your Orlando vacation can be possible on a tight budget.
