Best Waterpark in Orlando

Orlando is home to four major waterparks, all of which are wonderful, but some have clear advantages over the other. Take a look at the break down below of each park to figure out which would be best for your family to visit. Be sure to take into account the age range in your group as some parks are better suited for small children, while others cater mainly to an older thrill-seeking crowd.

Wet ‘N Wild

Regular Price: $56
Discounted Price: $38

Wet ‘N Wild is Orlando’s oldest waterpark, but also it’s most thrilling. If you’re traveling with older kids this might be the best fit for your family. Wet ‘N Wild is located on International Drive right near Universal Orlando. Actually the waterpark is owned by Universal, but is treated as a separate entity with no onsite Universal branding. What Wet ‘N Wild is lacking in theme it makes up for in it’s rides. Out of all the waterparks in Orlando none of them pack the punch like Wet ‘N Wild does. The park sits on thirty acres of land and features seventeen water slides. Blastaway Beach, the parks latest addition, is a kiddie zone, which helps to make this a great park for he whole family. Take advantage of Wet ‘N Wilds long hours of operation. Most of the crowds clear out before dinner time, yet the park stays open till as late as 9 PM.

Aquatica

Regular Price: $46
Discount Price: N/A

Aquatica is the newest waterpark in Orlando, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best. There is a big push for the dolphin slide, but if the line is long don’t bother, you’ll be setting yourself up for disappointment. It does feature some sporadic animal encounters, but there is no set schedule for the encounters. Some major positives for Aquatica is the price if bundled with a Seaworld Ticket, and the quiet nature of the park. Depending on the season, Seaworld will run some really great deals on Aquatica tickets, which make it worth paying for if you already plan on visiting Seaworld or Discovery Cove. Also, this park is somewhat hidden from the main stretch of tourist attractions, which means that it is usually much quieter than the rest. This is definitely a great park for young children or those who want to take it slow for the day, but thrill seekers should look elsewhere.

Typhoon Lagoon

Regular Price: $53
Discount Price: $49

I could summarize this up fairly quickly and tell you that most polls and forums agree that Typhoon Lagoon is the favorite among all the waterparks in Orlando and is the most visited waterpark in the world! Typhoon is the largest of the four parks in the area and has a beautiful tropical setting that gives the feel of being somewhere in the Caribbean. The park does have a somewhat dishelved look to it as well due to the theming of the park being the result of a Typhoon, but it still has that spectacular Disney cleanliness to it. Due to it’s size this is the perfect park for families of all ages. Everyone will have something that appeals to them. One of the big attractions is the ability to snorkel with marine life. I’ve previously written a comparative analysis of Blizzard Beach vs Typhoon Lagoon, which will give you more information on both.

Blizzard Beach

Regular Price: $53
Discount Price: $49

Blizzard Beach has one of the most unique themes you will ever find in a waterpark. The story behind this park is that a freak snowstorm hit Florida and a ski resort was built. As soon as the ski resort had finished construction the snow began to melt and in an effort to save the business the resort was turned into a waterpark. With all that said, if the idea of being at a waterpark with a winter wonderland setting appeals to you then this is the park for you. Blizzard Beach is home to the second tallest water slide in the entire world! Brave guests can expect to hit speeds of around 60 MPH during the free fall. Please note that the ladies will want to make sure they wear a very secure bathing suit to this park. You’ll notice lots of people hangout at the bottom of the slide for a good laugh because at those speeds wardrobe malfunctions are very common.

Overall, Typhoon Lagoon always seems to be the overall favorite amongst families looking to spend a day at one of Orlando’s four waterparks, but that doesn’t mean the others don’t have anything to offer. Thrill seekers will want to experience Summit Plummet at Disney’s Blizzard Beach and/or all of the exciting rides at Wet ‘N Wild. Families with younger children will find Seaworld’s Aquatica to be the best fit with a very relaxed environment.

Remember you can save quite a bit by buying your waterpark tickets online through a official discount ticket broker. We recommend Best of Orlando for their outstanding customer service. For more information on discount tickets click here!

Blizzard Beach

Blizzard Beach vs Typhoon Lagoon: Which is better?

Very seldom do people have time during their vacation to visit both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. So before you pick one or the other, lets compare the two.

Theming:

Blizzard Beach is set as a ski resort in the middle of Florida. The back-story is that a freak snowstorm occurred which led to the development of the ski resort. However, the cold never lasts long in Florida so the snow began to melt leaving behind a ski resort full of snow-less ski jumps. The park is decked out in it’s “icy” theme and plays Christmas music throughout the park.

Typhoon Lagoon is the result of a massive storm that destroyed a tropical paradise. Although the theme of Typhoon Lagoon is definitely a little more tame than Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon has more of a tropical island feel which resonates better with guests’ idea of relaxing at a water park.

Rides:

Most adrenaline junkies would agree that Blizzard Beach has the better rides of the two parks with the famous Summit Plummet, which is a 12-story drop! The slide includes a radar detector, which will clock your top speed while going down. It’s not uncommon for guests to hit speeds of over 60 mph!

Typhoon Lagoon has its share of water slides as well, but what really sets it apart is the shark reef and wave pool. The reef is allows guests to snorkel overtop of various aquatic life including stingrays and sharks. Keep in mind that children under the age of 10 must be accompanied in the reef. The wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is actually strong enough to surf. Disney offers surfing lessons through the Cocoa Beach Surf School before the park opens to other guests. More information on lessons can be found here

Overall Winner:

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion it is an undisputed fact that Typhoon Lagoon is the more popular of the two parks. In fact, Typhoon Lagoon is the most visited water park in the world!
