Disney College Program Drug Testing

Are you excited for your upcoming Disney College Program experience but a little apprehensive that your weekend habit may be coming back to bite you? Is there a possibility that you might go through the long application process and move down to Disney to find out you cannot work for the company after failing a drug test? Well, the answer to that question is that it depends…

The short answer is that Disney does drug test for certain roles.

Basically, if you’re going to be operating a vehicle or attraction or have any other role that could potentially endanger guest safety Disney will drug test you before you start the job.

For example, if you are assigned to work in the parking lot one of the job responsibilities is to drive the parking tram that takes guests from their parking spot to the main entrance or transportation and ticketing center. A cast member in this role will be asked to submit a urine sample for drug testing before they can officially start in the role. Same can be expected for cast members working on monorails, boats, or attractions.
Keep in mind Florida has only approved medicinal marijuana not recreational so if you’re from one of the states where recreational marijuana is legal you could still have an issue if you fail the drug test.

If you know you cannot hold back on the substance usage and your adamant about pursuing the Disney College Program you’re better off pursuing one of the roles that doesn’t involve guest safety such as character attendant, photopass photographer, merchandise, etc. These roles will not require a drug test before the start of your employment.

Will they drug test you during your employment?

Once again the answer to this is that it depends. Disney reserves the right to request a drug test from you at any time, but most likely they will not subject you to that unless there is an issue. For example, if you are involved in an accident of some sort you will most likely be asked to submit a urine sample immediately. I’ve seen cast members escorted by a manager to the nearest urgent clinic to submit a urine sample and if you fail the test you will most likely be terminated. It isn’t worth the risk, but I’m not going to preach about what you should or shouldn’t do with your life. That’s your momma’s job.
